This year, the First and Second Year students have a vast array of courses to choose from. These courses have been offered by our Institution as per Goa University and UGC Guidelines for the National Education Policy 2020. NEP 2020 seeks to transform Higher Education by providing flexibility to students in terms of choice of subjects to study and academic pathways. Students will be able to choose from a variety of majors, minors, multidisciplinary, ability enhancement, skill enhancement and value added courses. This will remove the rigid boundaries between disciplines and create new possibilities for students to choose and

learn the subjects of their choice The creative combination of disciplines is further enhanced by multiple entry and exit points.

The undergraduate degree will now be of either a three- or four-year duration, with multiple entry and exit options within this period, with appropriate certifications.

This institution promotes growth of studies in Pure Sciences, Languages, Humanities and Commerce along with Sports, Curricular and Co-curricular activities. Our institution aims at boosting the scientific temperament and professional ethics which will mould students to grow up to their potential and lead a successful life. IGNOU and Certificate/ Diploma courses in Sanskrit language hosted by this institution will further provide opportunity for distance learning recipient and aspirant community. NSS and NCC Unit will enrich the young minds which will encourage them to demonstrate disciplined and responsible behaviour in the society.

Activities of Department of Chemistry

Departmental Activities for academic year 2023-2024

Department of chemistry organized a meeting with parents of T.Y. B.Sc. Chemistry students to discuss attendance and progress of their child in regular classes and ISA on 15^th Aug 2023.

Department organized a talk by Dr. Rohan Kunkalekar, Assistant Professor, School of Chemical Sciences, Goa University, on “Introduction to Nanomaterials and its Application & Career opportunities” for UG and PG students on 18/08/2023.

Department organized a talk by Dr Shrikant Naik, Assistant Professor, School of Chemical Sciences, Goa University, on “X-ray Diffractions and its applications”, for UG and PG students on 15^th Dec 2023.

Dr. Ashish Naik, Ms. Shubhada Gawandi and Ms. Firdos Sakli Conducted a Certificate Course for the Year 2023-24 for BSc students on Laboratory Management

Department organized a talk on “Chemical literature search: Key for scientific research by Dr. Mahesh Majik, Associate Professor, RDI Goa & SHEC, DHE Goa on 15^th September. The event was coordinated by Dr. Apurva Narvekar.

Department Of Chemistry(UG) under the aegis of Star College Scheme DBT New Delhi organised a workshop on “Exploring Chemistry through Experiments and Expressions” for High School Students on 4th October 2023, coordinated by Dr Rajashri Mordekar and Mrs. Shubhada Gawandi with Dr. Pooja Bhargav and Dr. Shambhu Parab serving as resource person. Five nearby schools participated along with a total of 28 students.

Department of Chemistry organised a study tour to Rajasthan from 17^th December 2023, Dr. Rajashree Mordekar, Dr. Shambhu Parab, Dr. Pooja Bhargao and Ms. Aishwarya Nazare accompanied BSc and MSc Chemistry students on study tour.

The Department of chemistry and Cluster research centre of this institution in association with DHE, Porvorim Goa, Vedanda Sesa Ltd and Under the Aegis of DBT star colleges scheme organised two day National Conference on “ Advances in material Sciences” on 9^th and 10^th Feb 2024.
